The first half of the year 2017 has come to an end and Bollywood has already seen a lot of highs and lows. The first half saw two massive releases – SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 and Salman Khan’s Tubelight. Baahubali broke all the records at the box office while Tubelight received a lukewarm response, but Salman’s heartfelt performance was applauded. Apart from the movie releases, there have been a number of controversies over the last six months that grabbed headlines. Let’s take a look back at top 10 controversies which left us surprised and shocked.

Salman Khan misquoted

To begin with, superstar Salman Khan, as usual, was in headlines for all the wrong reasons. During his Tubelight promotion, Salman was generally asked about his opinion on War as his film too had a backdrop of India- China war. He shared his opinion which led to the whole, new controversy. He was lashed for a statement which was misquoted and linked to the current tension between India and Pakistan. This is what he actually said, “People who order war should be asked to go to war themselves. Take this gun and go to war. (They will realise it) and it will get over in a day. They will tremble and shake and they will eventually take the route of dialogues and discussions. (Haath pair kaapne lagg jaaye nge. Mira had said, “I had a tough pregnancy, I went to those 5 months of difficult times to bring my daughter into this world, in fact, both of us together (Shahid Kapoor and she). So now I want to spend every moment that I can with her. I love being at home, I love being a mother to my child, I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work, why did I have her? She is not a puppy; I want to be there for her as a mother.”  Many even thought it was an indirect dig at Kareena Kapoor Khan who recently became a mommy and has been about town despite that.

He retorted,  “I’ve been seeing this from past 25 years, whenever anyone wins, becomes the topic of discussion. So it’s nothing new to me. Actors like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and many more had their opinions. But Kangana is still adamant over her nepotism remark.
