Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan met ace Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan at the ongoing event called ‘Reframing the Future of Film’ in Mumbai. He took to Twitter and Instagram to share a picture of himself with the Inception director. He wrote, “My Fanboy moment. Inspiring to hear Mr Nolan and Ms Tacita Dean talk of the virtues of celluloid as an artist’s medium. Thanks Shivendra Singh Dungarpur for having me over.” Well, Nolan too looked very happy on meeting Bollywood’s very own Badshaah.
Nolan is in India on the request of Mr Dungarpur, who is the founder of Film Heritage Foundation. He organised a three-day seminar, which will have Nolan speak about the importance of traditional way of filmmaking in the digital age. The filmmaker who prefers to make his movie using traditional methods as much as digital, including his last release Dunkirk that won the Oscars in the technical section, spoke about how the celluloid medium can co-exist with the digital medium. Nolan arrived in India with his wife on Friday. Kamal Haasan was the first Indian celeb to have met the director on his arrival to the city. He seemed to have quite an enjoyable conversation with the director. He too took to Twitter to share a picture with him and write, “Met Mr Christopher Nolan. Apologised for seeing Dunkirk in the digital format and in return am sending Hey Ram in digital format for him to see. Was surprised to know he had seen Paapanaasam.” Before Nolan’s arrival to the city, Dungarpur had told IANS, “With their visit, along with the participation of some of the who’s who of our Indian film industry, hopefully, the talk and encouragement of shooting and projecting film in celluloid will start.” A special screening of Dunkirk and Interstellar is also expected to be hosted during the seminar, for which the projectors have specially been flown in from the US.
