Sonam Kapoor to turn politician for ‘Battle for Bittora’

Politics seems to be the flavour of the season with Bollywood gripping in the political fever. After Jackky Bhagnani in Youngistaan  and superstar Amitabh Bachchan in Bhoothnath Returns, Sonam Kapoor looks all set to turn into politician for Battle for Bittora.

Anil Kapoor was so convinced that Battle for Bittora would make a perfect movie that he bought the movie rights of the author Anuja Chauhan. The yet-to-be-titled film is an adaptation of the love story between two upcoming politicians who despite being in love are contesting elections against each other.

The novel boasted of a gripping story of a political battle in the dusty hinterlands of India where a love story threatens to play spoilsport. Let’s see how the film adaptation will work on the Box-office.

Anil Kapoor is very convinced and feels confident about the plot of the movie. “I feel the content of the book will make a fantastic film,” he said.

After portraying the part of a political activist in Raanjhanaa, this time Sonam Kapoor is all set to play a politician .This is the third time the actress is doing a movie based on book after Saawariya and Aisha. The movie is slated to be released somewhere around September this year.

“I am doing a film where I am playing an aspiring politician. It is based on Anuja’s book. We read that book and we bought the rights. It has an interesting love story. I am very excited about it,” said Sonam.

“Only the scripting is done and it depends on how the director portrays things. I like to prepare for my role in advance and I will do workshops for this film as well. I do little work but I do the best of my ability,” she said.

Since the movie needs a young protagonist opposite Sonam, the makers are considering Imran Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sidharth Malhotra to play the male lead opposite Sonam. She has already been paired with Imran Khan in I Hate Love Storys and they looked adorable together, but she has not been cast opposite Aditya Roy Kapur and Sidharth Malhotra yet. So it would be interesting to see who Sonam’s love interest.

Sonam has been on a roll after Raanjhanaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag she has many more movies lined up this year; Bewakoofiyaan, Dolly Ki Doli and Khoobsurat.
