One of the greatest movies ever to be made in the history of Indian cinema, SS Rajamouli’s directed Bahubali: The Beginning is all set to represent India in the Oscars 2016. After breaking as well as creating several records, the Prabhas and Tamannaah starrer Bahubali is reportedly the leading movie to be nominated as India’s official entry to the 88th Academy Awards. The period drama movie Bahubali created a worldwide phenomena with its global release on July 10th, 2015 in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam. The multi starrer film with big names like Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Sathyaraj,  Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia turned out to be blockbuster with audiences and critics showering heaps of praises. It comes as no surprise if Bahubali is chosen as India’s official entry to the best foreign film category at the prestigious Academy Awards. According to reports, Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has already made an announcement over Baahubali being chosen as the official entry for Oscar. But one will have to wait for the official confirmation, which will be done of September 25. Veteran actor Amol Palekar, who heads the five Oscar selection panel will study over 45 films in Hyderabad and finally give their verdict over the movie going to Oscars.

In 2015, Hindi road film ‘Liar’s Dice’, starring Geetanjali Thapa and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles  had been selected as India’s official entry to the best foreign film category at the Oscar 2015 awards. It had beaten 29 other films including  ‘Shahid’, ‘Queen’, ‘Mardaani’ and ‘Mary Kom’ to represent India at the 87th Academy Awards.
