On the second day at Commonwealth Games 2014, the Beijing Gold medallist, Abhinav Bindra, has won the 10m Air Rifle final at the Barry Buddon Shooting Centre at Glasgow, Scotland. The ace shooter who is playing in his last Commonwealth Games was the top contender to win gold in shooting for India.
Bindra who won 1 gold and 1 silver medal in the previous 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games has won yet another gold medal in the same 10m air rifle shooting category, in which he won at Bejieng in 2008 Olympics. Abhinav Bindra has so far won 8 medals at the Commonwealth Games over the years!
The silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle event went to Bangladesh’s Abdullah Baki while the bronze medal was won by England’s Daniel Rivers.
Only a day before the ace shooter tweeted his heart out as his Twitter line read, “Tom I will compete in my 5th cwg. This will be my last appearance at the games Hope to have some fun. Cont.” The first individual Gold medalist at the Olympics Abhinav Bindra further tweeted, “Been a great journey which started as 15 year old at the kl games and have 8 cwg medals so far. So friends pray and wish me some luck :-)”
