Safety concerns are heightened especially after the bombings at the Boston Marathon which is considered to be the safest marathon. 22 anti-terror hit squad personnel will be posted all along the route along with the start and finish of the marathon. Hawk-eyed police officials will be placed at strategic points to watch for any and all suspicious movement.

The Asian Heart Institute will be taking care of the medical arrangements. Volunteers and medical staff will be standing by at regular interval to tend to all who require medical attention at the Mumbai Marathon.

A first at the Mumbai Marathon will be the Runners Medical Profiler which will be an attempt to catalogue the medical history of all the runners participating in full marathon and half marathon which are a part of the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2014 to be able to focus runners with the highest probability on needing medical attention and spread the word accordingly among staff and volunteers.

Another amazing medical feat in the 2014 Mumbai Marathon will be the use of trans-telephonic ECG monitoring technology to directly map the ECG of some of the runners. The ECG will be monitored by a trained set of doctors and medical staff.

12 Medical Stations, 8 Ambulances and 350 active doctors will be standing by at various points of the course to tend to the runners.

Over 1 lakh liters of water is being promised to be distributed during the various marathons via 25 water stations. There are 8 Energy Drink Stations, 11 Cool Sponge Stations and 11 orange Stations to provide the salts and oranges to help the marathoners remain hydrated throughout the course.

There will also be 2 Cool Zones, one near Wilson College and one near Parsee Gymkhana for the runners to use.

Almost 2000 police officers, over 1000 security personnel and about 1000 volunteers will make sure that the various marathoners are safe and can complete as much of the course as possible.

If you wish to view the Live telecast of the marathon on TV then you can log on to Star Sports 4 from 7 am to 11 am with a Simulcast on DD sports also.
