Bayern Munich welcome Manchester United to the Allianz Arena for the Champions League quarter-final second leg. 1- Bayern Munich’s defeat to Augsburg on Saturday was their first league loss since October 2012, a run of 53 games.

2- Bayern are yet to beat an English team at home this season, losing to Manchester City and drawing with Arsenal – however, in both cases the result was enough to see them progress.

3- Munich have not lost a Champions League knock-out tie over two legs since March 2011, when the went out on away goals to Inter.

4- Bayern have only failed to score in one of their last 28 Champions League matches, but this came against English opposition (Arsenal in March 2013).

5- Bayern have won six and drawn two of their last eight matches in the CL knockout stages, but the last team to defeat them in the knock-out stages were English (Arsenal – 0-2 in March 2013).

6- Bayern Munich have failed to win just four of their last 18 Champions League games at the Allianz Arena (W14 D2 L2) – but all four of these games have been against English sides.

7- Bayern have drawn the first leg of a European knockout tie 1-1 away from home on 11 previous occasions and have going progressed to the next round in all 11 of those ties.

8- Bayern have averaged 69.8% possession in the Champions League this season and they managed a possession figure of 74.2% at Old Trafford in the first leg.

9- No side has won more penalties than Bayern Munich in the Champions League this season (4), but they have only scored two of these.

10- Arjen Robben has won all four of these penalties – no other player has won more than two.

11- Franck Ribery has created more goalscoring chances than any other player in the Champions League this season (23).


1- Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney has eight assists in this year’s Champions League, more than any other player. However he has only scored twice.

2- United have the Premier League’s best away record this season, although their only Champions League defeat this season came in the away leg of their tie with Olympiakos

3- The 16 goals that United have scored in their nine Champions League games is the joint lowest of the quarter-finalists – tied with Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund.

4- Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in five of their nine Champions League games this season; no side has kept more.

5- Since the 1999 Champions League final, Man Utd have won just one of their seven Champions League encounters with Bayern Munich (W1 D3 L3).

6- Manchester United have scored in each of their last 15 Champions League meetings with German clubs, but the last one to stop them scoring was Bayern in March 2002.

7- The Red Devils have won just one of their last six Champions League away games (D3 L2), but this victory did come in Germany, courtesy of a 5-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
