In a shocking news – a champion bodybuilder broke his neck and died in South Africa after an attempted backflip went totally wrong.
Sifiso Lungelo Thabete died after landing on his head in front of crowd that was horrified with the incident.
Officials ran toward the former junior world champion when he remained unmoved on the mat.
In a video posted online, the bodybuilder was seen entering a gymnasium and flexed his muscles as he showed off his body to the crowd. The 23-year-old then ran on to a gym mat and jumped in the air to attempt the back flip which went horribly wrong.
Bodybuilding magazine Muscle Evolution reported the incident that took place on Saturday.
“The bodybuilding community was shocked and saddened by the tragic news of the death of Sifiso Lungelo Thabete, a bodybuilder from Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, at the weekend,” magazine announced.
“He impressed the crowd and the judges with unbelievable muscle size and maturity beyond his age,” it added.
