The big final of the Premier Badminton League 2017 will see Chennai Smashers take on Mumbai Rockets. The tie will begin at 7 pm IST and will be telecast on the Star Sports network. The online streaming of the contest will be available on Hotstar and can be seen here. Chennai Smashers will be lead by PV Sindhu who will battle Sung Ji Hyun in the biggest clash of the night.

It will be fair to say that Chennai go into the final as slight favourites. Although the final will be played in Delhi, the last time these two teams played against each other earlier in the competition this year, you had Chennai edging out Mumbai 4-3 in a tough contest in Bangalore.

A lot of focus is on the Sindhu versus Sung tie as it is believed that both teams are evenly matched otherwise too and the marquee match of the night may actually also decide which way this tie falls. While Sindhu is ranked number six in the world, Sung is ranked number three. Sindhu though leads the all-time record against Sung with 6-4 in her favour. It was a close battle between these two teams even with respect to the points table before the semifinals began. Chennai finished third on the table to Mumbai’s second position. Chennai are making their first appearance in the final. Mumbai on the other hand appeared in the final last year where they lost 4-3 against the Delhi Acers.
