New Delhi, April 8: India’s Ravi Kumar won bronze medal in Men’s 10m Air Rifle at 21st Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast on Sunday. Kumar fired a total of 224.1 to claim bronze, while his Indian counterpart Deepak Kumar got eliminated. ustralia’s Dane Sampson Dane won the gold medal with an effort of 245. Bangladeshi shooter, Abdullah Hel Baki bagged silver, firing a total of 244.7.
Earlier in the day, India’s Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu won gold and silver respectively in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event at the ongoing games. While Bhaker displayed spectacular performance by a Setting a new CWG record with a total of 240.9 points in the final round Heena registered 234 to make it 1-2 for India at the top of the podium. Earlier in the day, weightlifter Punam Yadav clinched a gold medal in the women’s 69 kg weightlifting event.
The 22-year-old from Varanasi lifted 100 kg in snatch and 122 kg in the clean and jerk category to finish with a total of 222 kg to make the country proud.
At present, India’s medal tally reads six gold, two silver and two bronze – five gold from the weightlifting and one from shooting. India currently ranks third in the medal tally with ten medals (6 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze)
Australia, England lead with 59 and 34 medals respectively.
