New Delhi, April 8: The Indian women’s hockey team on Sunday displayed a top-class performance against England in the on-going Commonwealth Games 2018 and beat England by 2-1 in a a Pool A match.

England skipper Alexandra Danson (1st minute) scored in the opening minute to put her team ahead right at the start. India hit back through Rani (42nd minute) and Gurjit (48th minute) in the second half to claim a hard-fought win.

The Indian team’s first victory came on April 6 when it thrashed Malayasi by 4-1 in its second pool A match.

Kaur’s two penalty corner conversions (6th and 39th minutes), out of the three chances she got, along with skipper Rani Pampal and Lalremsiami’s field goals in the 56th and 59th minute respectively helped India post a comprehensive victory and recover from the shock of their opening 2-3 loss to lower-ranked Wales.
