Gold Coast, Apr 14: Shooter Sanjeev Rajput on Saturday clinched a gold in men’s 50-metre rifle at the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia. Earlier, Rajput registered a Games record of 1180 to enter the final as the best shooter in the qualification stage. Chain finished second in qualification with 1166 points.

Meanwhile, boxer Gaurav Solanki too has bagged a gold for India in men’s 52 kg category at the CWG 2018.    Solanki won a tough, fast paced, tactical battle by a split 4:1 verdict against the impressive Brendan Irvine of Northern Ireland in the final. The win has taken India’s medal tally to 45.

Earlier in the day, MC Mary Kom defeated Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara 5-0 and won gold in women’s 45-48 kg category at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia. This is Mary Kom’s first CWG medal and boxing’s first at this edition.

The 35-year-old five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist was competing in her debut Commonwealth Games, also perhaps her last, and made it a memorable one with yet another dominating performance to claim a unanimous verdict of 5-0.
