New Delhi: Following the second T20I between India and Australia at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Australian team bus was attacked with a rock that damaged the glass panel of the vehicle. However, following the shameful incident some of the fans lined-up outside Australia’s team hotel and apologised for the same.
The fans were seen holding placards and apologised not only to the visiting team but to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well.
“It’s shameful that for us that some mad people throw rock to the team Australia [sic],” read one of the posters.
“Sorry Aussies,” “Sorry team Australia,” read some other placards. The photos are now all over the internet.
The infamous incident came to light and become a major headline after Australian opener Aaron Finch tweeted the photo.
“Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!” Warner had tweeted.
Meanwhile, scores of former and current international cricketers termed the incident as unfortunate.
“Throwing rock stone is not in a good taste because it is a sport and people should be able to strictly see it likewise and not beyond that,” Indian women’s team captain Mithali Raj said after the incident.
The two teams now face each other on Friday (October 13) in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad. The three-match series is currently levelled at one each.
