Top seed Serena Williams showed the world of her thorough professionalism as she dispatched her good friend Alize Lim in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Despite giving a clinical performance against the French player, defending champion Serena Williams looked unsatisfied with her game during several points of the match.

Serena Williams who was barely tested by her friend from Mouratoglou Academy produced a rock-solid performance against a hapless Lim. The top seed started the proceeding of the match in not a fancy manner with no aces and a double fault in the first set. She balanced it out with breaking two off four service games of Lim handing her the first set in fashion.

The second set became all the more tough for the World No. 138 as Serena steam-rolled her friend with more dominating score line taking the set 6-1. Serena Williams who was ousted in the fourth round of her last major at Australian Open 2014 sees a resurgent player with record 53-2 on the red surface with eight titles since 2012.

Serena Williams and Alize Lim who were facing each other for the first time in the competitive level clearly had the former as the red-hot favourite. After the draw was out with Alize Lim play against Serena came out clearly had the French player unhappy. Before the start of the tournament Alize and Serena were seen posing for selfies.
