Golden State Warriors (GSW) beat Cleveland Cavaliers (CLE); win NBA 2014-15: Curry does it, King doesn't!

Slam…Bang…and over. It was a dream while it lasted, but as LeBron James so often does, he put up an emotionless face, shook hands with the opposition and walked away. Victory would’ve meant a lot, but Cleveland Cavaliers were served a harsher treatment. LeBron’s grand ambition of bringing the trophy back ‘home’ fell wayward by one defeat more than his liking.

But on more realistic terms, no one would’ve given Cavaliers a chance at the title had LeBron not returned ‘home’. But he did, they reached the finals and won two games. But, LeBron’s 29.9 points per game wasn’t good enough to take them to Match 7 as Golden State Warriors won their fourth National Basketball Association (NBA) title on Tuesday.

King LeBron had promised at the start of the season as he made the big deal switch from Miami Heat, where he won two title as finished runner-up twice, back to Cleveland to help Cleveland win. He couldn’t and that must’ve been heart-wrenching – to reach all the way for two consecutive seasons and not get his hands on the coveted trophy.

It was a contrasting story – one of Stephen Curry who wants to etch his name as the best young player in NBA and the other of LeBron who desperately wants to bring the trophy to Cleveland, a smaller side with lesser stars; a place the King calls his ‘home’.

While LeBron stormed through defences with brute force and powered his way to slam dunks, Curry with 28.5 Points Per Game won it for the Warriors with his 4.8 three-pointers each game. His style of play complimented Klay Thomson well and helped the team move around better on the court. The Cavaliers, on the other hand, depended heavily on LeBron and Kyrie Irving. Minus them, Cleveland looked an ordinary side which couldn’t impose itself on a more rounded unit.

LeBron is no alien to winning the title, but the wait with Clevaland continues. Curry, on the other hand, has possibly achieved the status he would’ve liked as for now.

However, it is unlikely that LeBron will breathe easy till the time he brings ‘home’ the trophy. With the kind of confidence he carries, don’t be surprised if he decides to do the bull work all by himself. With a good display in the first season after his return, there will be hope. Michael Jordan has done it with the Bulls, LeBron is continues to wait for his moment of glory with the Cavaliers.
