New Zealand made a good comeback and restricted England to a score of 172/6, after the English batsmen made a solid start even after losing Alex hales in the very first over. England was cruising with the game at one stage when Lumb and Moeen Ali were going strong and were attacking from both the sides. Moeen Ali in particular was very harsh on the kiwi bowlers and played some extravagant shots on both side of the wickets, while Michael Lumb took his time to settle down.

England walked into the game with a very questionable team selection leaving out the likes of Luke Wright and Ben stokes who are their premium T20 experts along with Eoin Morgan. They got off to a disastrous start when Corey Anderson took a brilliant catch to get rid of Alex hales. From then on though it was all Moeen Ali and Lumb as they dominated the New Zealand bowling and the English total reached 73/1 in the 8th over. It was at this moment when Anderson struck his magic again and picked up Moeen Ali. England lost wickets at regular intervals after that but never let the momentum die. All the English batsmen played important cameos and eventually helped England score a total of 172.

New Zealand though made a good comeback during the back end of the innings as Nathan McCullum and Corey Anderson bowled some economical overs and also picked up wickets towards the end. Corey Anderson was the star with the ball and in the field for the Kiwis as he picked up 2/31 and also took two amazing catches to get rid of Alex hales and Michael Lumb.

Brief scores:

England 172 for 6 in 20 overs (Michael Lumb 33, Moeen Ali 36, Jos Buttler 32; Corey Anderson 2 for 32) vs New Zealand.
