Gold Coast, April 12: The Indian eves on Thursday failed to enter the final in the Commonwealth Games 2018 after a disappointing performance which saw them lose 0-1 against Australia in the semi-final match of the women hockey semi-final here. Australia, will thus play against New Zealand in the final and India will play England for the Bronze medal tie.
Captain Rani Rampal came close on taking India to an early lead before the half-time which was kept out by the Australian goalkeeper to keep the score-line even at 0-0 at the half-way mark. Meanwhile, Australia too missed out on scoring from two penalty corners twice.
The third quarter began with India losing the ball early. But they somehow stopped Australia, who looked to go on an all-out attack mode. The home side was seen dominating the play, which eventually earned them the third penalty corner.
In no time, Grace Stewart gave Australia the lead in the third quarter through a volley which went past Savita – who could do nothing about the shot.
India, earned their first back-to-back penalty corner in the fourth quarter but the eves failed to make anything out of it.
