Gold Coast, April 13: Pooja Dhanda outplayed Joseph Essombe Tiako from Cameroon 57kg freestyle wrestling semifinal in the Commonwealth Games 2018, Gold Coast to earn herself a spot in the final event, assuring a medal for the Indian contingent.

Pooja dominated the game from the onset to take a healthy 9-2 lead. However, after the break Tiako came out on attack to take down the Indian to cut down the deficit to 9-4.  The dying minutes saw, Pooja play on the defense, disallowing her counter-part to get hold off her.

Meanwhile, Divya Kakran lost her 68 kg freestlye wrestling semi-final tie against Blessing Oborududu of Nigeria. The India will however get a chance to earn bronze in the third place match later in the day.
