Gold Coast, April 13:  India hockey team lost 2-3 by a slender margin in the semi-final contest at the Commonwealth Games 2018 here on Friday. India, will thus play the bronze medal match.

India started the game on a sour note, conceding two goals in the first quarter with goals coming from Stephen Jenness and Hugo Inglis. However, India cut short the deficit to 1-2 heading into the half time with Harmanpreet Singh netting the ball in the near corner through a gifted penalty stroke.

In the third quarter, India were handed a penalty corner early, courtesy of their attacking play which saw the Kiwis defense causing unforced errors. But, India could not make the most out of the set piece awarded to them.

Later, the Black Caps scored their third goal to put a breather between both the side following which India missed out an golden opportunity through penalty corner to score their second goal but continued to impose threat from their attack.

The final quarter saw India continuing to build on pressure on the opponents but failing to convert their chances into goals. However, Harmanpreet scored in the final four minutes to take the score to 2-3.
