Chennai, Apr 10: Fans in Chennai had been waiting for this moment for the last two years! Their home team has come to play in their home stadium MA Chidambaram Stadium under the captainship of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Chennai will take on the mighty challenge of Kolkata shortly. The entire stadium is packed in yellow– the Chennai team’s official colour.

In its opening match against Mumbai, the Chennai team pulled off a stunning win when they were on the verge of losing. Dwayne Bravo did the trick for Chennai with a quick-fire half-century. Kedar Jadhav and Ambati Rayudu also came in handy. Jadhav later pulled a hamstring and is out of the tournament.

For Chennai, it is expected that Murali Vijay could open the innings, while Rayudu could be moved down the order. Pacer Shardul Thakur could also make the cut. The spin trio of Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir would be expected to pay a larger role on a turning Chennai wicket.

The Chennai team would have to be beware of Sunil Narine with the ball and with the bat. Narine scored a half-century against Bengaluru, which turned the tide of the match. Kolkata’s batting line looks formidable with a mix of experience and youth. The bowling department will miss Australian pacer Mitchell Starc but his replacement Tom Curran will be happy to get opportunities to showcase his talent. Kolkata’s spinners Narine, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla would find the surface at Chepauk more to their liking.
