Looking back at the day one of the Pune Test, then, after a good start Aussies trail lost way in the post lunch session and lost too many wickets. Australia managed to put 256 runs on the board at the loss of nine wickets at stumps. India maintained their good form and took full control of the situation and ran through the middle-order. However, Australia would be pretty happy with their effort on a turning pitch. Also Read: India Vs Australia 2017 1st Test Day 1, Video Highlights

At stumps, Starc was unbeaten on 57 runs from 58 balls with fellow paceman Josh Hazlewood giving him company on one off 31 deliveries. Tottering at 205/9, Starc’s fiery strokeplay helped him raise a undefeated 51-run last wicket stand with Hazlewood to take the Australians past the 250-run mark.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav’s four-wicket haul had reduced the Aussies to 205/9 while the spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin (2/59), Ravindra Jadeja (2/74) and Jayant Yadav (1/58) shared five wickets between themselves as the visitors lost five wickets for just 56 runs in the third session. However, Virat Kohli-led team could not finish the day on an elating note and with Starc looking good in the middle and Josh Hazlewood showing he can block the ball to good effect, Australia will look to push their first innings total beyond 300, which, on this wicket, could prove to be a really good one.

So, if day one of the first Test match is anything to go by then this India vs Australia series is going to be an absolute humdinger.
