Everyone is talking about England batsman Haseeb Hameed’s determination during the third Test between India and England. The 19-year-old batsman despite bruised little finger came out to bat in the second innings. Hameed, who batted at number eight, not only showed intent but went on to score unbeaten 59. The young batsman showed maturity in his last wicket partnership with James Anderson.

Despite Hameed’s effort, England lost the third Test by eight wickets. The right-handed batsman after being hit on the hand during the first innings of Mohali Test sat out for majority of the time and had to give up on his opening position as well. Unfortunately for fans, Hameed has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour and will head back to England for surgery. Also Read- Haseeb Hameed out of India tour due to finger injury

After Hameed’s gritty knock in the second innings, India skipper Virat Kohli acknowledged his effort and patted him on the back. Hameed was applauded by other Indian team members as well.

During the post match press conference the Indian skipper praised Hameed’s character and said, “I wish him a speedy recovery. He showed great character for a 19-year-old, to be honest, at this level. He put his hand up when his team wanted him to do it. The way he played with (James) Anderson towards the end (for the 10th wicket), showed great maturity. He knew exactly what he wanted to do.” Also Read- Alastair Cook-led England to travel to Dubai for short holiday

“And you can sense it as a captain, this guy is intelligent and knows the game. I think he is a great prospect for England. He is definitely going to be a future star in all forms if he keeps persisting with his skill. Really impressed with him and that is why I patted him on the back. It was an innings full of character, something you need to applaud,” added Kohli.

Not only this, Kohli even met the youngster after the match. The official handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted a picture of Kohli having a chat with Hameed. However, details of the conversation are not known.

Hameed made his Test debut at Rajkot and impressed everyone with his technique and patience. The right-handed batsman scored 31 and 82 in the first Test. At Vishakapatnam, he finished with scores of 13 and 25.
