Indian Super League: FC Goa's Indian players are ready for ISL, claims coach Zico

Vasco (Goa), Sep 18: FC Goa’s newly-appointed marquee coach Zico on Thursday oversaw his first training session at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here. After spending a day putting his squad through the motions, Zico said: “It’s the first day. I’ve observed the team and the boys look physically fit and ready to go, especially the Indian players.”

Zico, who was accompanied by his assistant Arthur Papas during the day long training session, added that his squad would be training twice a day starting Friday. “In the days to follow when I get to know the teams better, I will be sharing my tactical strategy and philosophy with the team,” the Brazilian football legend said.

Talking after the first professional encounter with Zico on a rainy afternoon, Brazilian player Bruno Pinheiro said: “The weather and humidity is an obstacle but we will overcome that. With Zico as our coach we will be able to develop good tactics and skill.” Zico was unveiled as the coach of the Indian Super League (ISL) club last Monday.
