Thanks to India’s continuing terrible run in their Tour of England 2014, Amul advertisement can be used again and again in reference to the different Tests India plays against nemesis England. Amul came up with this brilliant advertisement after the horrible and shameful loss India faced at the hands of Englishmen during the fourth Test Match at Old Trafford. The Indian team had lost the match in matter of three days where the Indian batting side crumbled like cookie! The tagline of their advert read, “Guest Appearance or Test Appearance” , something everyone could relate to Indian team’s ‘spineless’ performance. But none would have imagined, Amul’s advertisement could very well go with Indian team performance in the fifth and final Test at the Kennington Oval as well!

The fifth and last Test match started on August 15, India’s Independence Day was expected to bring out the best from Indian side that have not only squandered a 1-0 lead in the Test Series but also went down the graph since the Lord’s Test and are now trailing 2-1 against Alastair Cook’s led England side. But, as they say reality is far cruel than fiction, and this being actual playing ground and not some Bollywood script, India team played their usual ‘hopeless’ game. Their pathetic show can be imagined by the fact that the highest partnership of the Indian innings was 11th wicket partnership between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ishant Sharma. Barring Dhoni’s gritty knock of 82, Indian side added just 66 runs. India wrapped up making mere 148 runs.

Call it lack of experience among this relatively young Indian team or their inability to play world class pacers outside sub-continent, Indian team did look like making guest appearance and by no means can be called Test match temperament. But as the Amul’s tagline says, “Makes You Strong”, hopefully Indian Team sorts this before as there is still four days of match left, provided they can stretch the match to Day 5!
