IPL 2014, CSK vs MI, Preview: On song Super Kings to take on demoralized Mumbai Indians

Come Thursday evening, it will again be time for the battle of the heavy weights in  IPL 7 as 2 time champions Chennai Super Kings will face the defending champions Mumbai Indians. The battles between these two teams have always been exciting and nerve wrecking. both the teams had disastrous starts to the tournament and while Chennai then improved their performance and the team structure to win the nest two games, Mumbai have still been on the path of decline with the batting order now disappointing in two matches in a row. Its about time that the Mumbai Indians review their performances and start winning or it might turn out to be late and the trophy will be out of their reach.

Mumbai Indians:

X Factor: They have two of the most explosive all rounders in the world in their line up, they have the most well balanced bowling attack in the tournament. they have possibly the most talented and one of the highest scorers in the IPL as their captain, if that’s not enough, they even have Mr Cricket; Michael Hussey in their ranks. No one knows what else they require to register a win. every player mentioned above is an X Factor in itself, lets hope they hit the right Chords this time around.

Watch out for: Lasith Malinga, Rohit Sharma.

Lasith malinga is one of the safest prospect to bank on in a T20 international. The veteran fast bowler with the slinging action has somehow managed to become even more dangerous in the dawn of his career. He has picked up 5 wickets in 2 matches so far and is delivering those yorkers with perfection.  Rohit Sharma on the other hand has struggled so far with the bat. Call it the wrong position or the the wrong situation to walk into bat, the right hander just hasn’t looked like himself in the tournament so far. It’s just the right moment for him to bounce back and deliver one of those classic Rohit Sharma IPL performances.

Weak Point: The team Combination and the batting order just hasn’t clicked for the Mumbai Indians this year. They have the team and the talent to retain the IPL, they just don’t seem to try hard enough.

Chennai Super Kings:

X Factor: The Bowling line up has pulled up their socks and along with some extra ordinary fielding, the Super Kings have been able to deliver 2 clinical performances to move up the table. With the turning tracks in Dubai, the work might just been made that much more easier for them. The pace bowling attack of Hilfenhaus and Indian pacers Mohit Sharma and Ishwar Pandey have also left a mark of excellence in the past few games.

Watch out for: Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Smith.

Ravindra Jadeja made the most of the help that the track at Dubai had to offer and picked up 4 important wickets to guide the Super Kings to victory in the last game. he also delivered with the bat, which is again an amazing sign for them.Dawyne Smith himself looks to be in devastating form. He almost single handedly destroyed the Rajasthan Bowling attack. He has now delivered in almost all the games that CSK has Played and he himself would be looking to deliver the crushing blow to his previous franchise.

Weak point: The middle order Failed miserable in the last game. Be it Suresh Raina, Faf Du Plessis or MS Dhoni, every single player failed to deliver in the game against Rajasthan royals, a team with an average bowling attack. It would be really interesting to see their performance against the Mumbai Indians, the side with probably the most dangerous bowling line up in the tournament.
