MS Dhoni had won the toss and elected to bat first and his decision did not seem to be a great one until a certain Suresh Raina showed why he is considered as one of the greatest IPL players ever. The start for the CSK team was not as good as the one they got in their first game and very soon they found themselves 1 down in the fourth over when they lost the wicket of Brendon McCullum for the score of 9.
Raina score 56 runs of 41 deliveries and provided his team with the much needed momentum. He along with dwayne smith(who found it hard to get going today), added 54 for the second wicket. He took his time to get going initially, but once he settled down he was his fluent best. By the time he was dismissed in the 15th over he had made sure that his team had an ideal foundation to launch the assault in the back end of the innings.
Delhi daredevils lost one of their main bowlers in the very first over when Nathan Coulter Nile was injured while sliding down to stop a ball. Captain Dinesh karthik struggled to manage his bowlers but succeeded remarkably for the most part of it. It was only towards the end that the Delhi bowlers lost control over their line, length and minds. MS Dhoni and Faf Du Plessis took full advantage of the wayward bowling and made sure that they post a healthy total on the board for the daredevils to chase.
Jayadev Unadkat was one of the main positives for the Delhi daredevils Bowling from this game as he bowled good line and lengths , picked up the wicket of McCullum and also gave away very few runs. He came back during the back end of the innings and picked up important wickets of Dhoni and Jadeja, wickets which could have well made a difference of 6-10 runs to the final score card. JP Duminy also did a pretty good job with the ball.
Brief Score:
CSK: 177/7 (S.Raina 56, MS Dhoni 32. J. Unadkat 3/32, J. Neesham 1/29).
