IPL 2014, Final, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): Virender Sehwag vs Umesh Yadav

Virender Sehwag vs Umesh Yadav

After two months of riveting action it is finally down to two teams, one of which will walk away with honours, it is final time. Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab both played some superlative cricket and courtesy that have made it to the final. As both teams walk out for one last time this season we bring to you some duels that make this super-Sunday fixture splendid.

Virender Sehwag vs Umesh Yadav

In Qualifier 1 Umesh Yadav bamboozled KXIP batsmen and ended up with match winning figures of 3-13 in his four overs including the prized scalps of Virender Sehwag and Glen Maxwell. KKR camp will love to see Yadav emulating his act in the finals as well, but Virender Sehwag fresh from his century will be high on confidence and very tough to bowl at given the conditions at M. Chinnaswamy. Yadav has pace and bounce but Sehwag surely knows how to tackle with all the experience behind him. A classic contest of bat and ball is on offer.

Glenn Maxwell vs Sunil Narine

After 15 matches Sunil Narine still has an impressive economy of 6.01 and 20 wickets to make stats look striking. Each passing day the mystery deepens on how to attack Narine. He is placid even when going for runs and calmly entangles the best of batsmen. Glenn Maxwell is one batsman in KXIP squad who can come close to thrash Narine. What makes Maxwell dangerous is he gives very less time to bowlers to settle down. Both players are match winners and perhaps the best buy when it comes to overseas players.

Mitchell Johnson vs Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is leading the KKR batting charge and with 10 consecutive 40 plus scores there is every reason for KXIP to fear his potential. The Orange cap holder has mustered 655 runs so far at an average of 46.78. To try and send him back early on will be one of the top priorities of KXIP and Mitchell Johnson is in with a role to play. Johnson has not been in his supreme best but one can expect from him to level up his game for the big occasion.
