Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Watson won the toss and elected to bat first and once again the start for the royals wasn’t that good. Royals lost their first wicket on the score of 10, when Karun Nair was bowled Vinay Kumar in an attempt to slog the ball out of the ground.
Sanju Samson and Ajinkya Rahane then settled the innings for the Royals as the duo shared a partnership of 41 runs, which saw Samson slamming Morkel for 20 runs in an over. Samson once again was unlucky as he was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan when he played on a straighter delivery by Shakib on the stumps. Samson once again looked good while he was on the wicket but he needs to start converting these starts into the big ones.
Shane Watson along with Rahane strengthened the score and the scoring rate for the royals. He played some lofty shots of the spinners and scored a quickfire 33 before he was run out while trying to take a second run in the 16th over.
The star of the batting performance for the Royals was undoubtedly Ajinkya Rahane. He batted with responsiblity and once he was in he made sure that he batted till the end. He made sure that wickets didn’t fall at his end and thus guaranteed a good score for the royals. He was eventually dismissed for 72 in the last over of the innings.
Vinay kumar and Shakib Al Hasan were the major contributors with the bowl as they bowled tight lines and picked up 2/30 and 1/23 respectively. Sunil Narine bowled well to start with but had an off day in terms of taking wickets.
Rajasthan Royals: 152/5 (Ajinkya Rahane 72, Shane Watson 33. V Kumar 2/30, Shakib Al Hasan 1/23).
