After being invited by the CSK captain after losing the toss to bat first, it was a mega blockbuster show of six hitting by our very own Glenn Maxwell and David Miller; the so called Max-Miller partnership of the KXIP middle order. The duo added a total of 135 runs in just 65 deliveries to boost the Kings XI side to a mammoth total after a relatively slow start.

Coming into bat first, the Kings XI promised a good batting display right from the first delivery when Virendra Sehwag hit the very first delivery to a scintillating boundary. Sehwag looked in very good touch for the span of time he lasted on the pitch. He was eventually dismissed after he edged a slower delivery from Ben Hilfenhaus.

But after this initial period of success all that the Chennai bowlers received was some smack and burn treatment from arguably two of the most destructive batsmen in world Cricket. Glenn Maxwell in particular was in his vintage elements as he literally destroyed the CSK bowling attack after the tenth over.

It looked like both Maxwell and Miller are struggling to get going but once the spinners were brought into the attack they went hammers and tongs on the bowling and scored 112 runs in a span of 7 overs. Both the batsmen were dismissed in a span of 9 deliveries, but they had made sure that KXIP have put up enough runs on the board to put up a huge challenge in front of the CSK batting line up. Although the end was disappointing for Glenn Maxwell as he missed his century for the 4th time in 7 matches in this edition of the IPL as he was once again dismissed in the 90’s being dismissed on 90.

There was no respite though for the Chennai bowlers as even George Bailey, who came in after the dismissal of David Miller also played an impressive cameo of 40 runs in 13 deliveries and helped the KXIP team to put up a total in excess of 230 runs.
