IPL 2014: Mumbai deliver another disappointing batting performance, this time against RCB

Virat Kohli won the toss for the second game in a row and elected to field, and once again his bowlers gave him full support as RCB restricted the Mumbai Indians to a paltry total of 115.

Luck seemed to be on Mumbai’s side initially when both the openers were dropped in successive overs by Yuzvendra Chahal and Nic Maddinson and later Parthiv Patel failed to run Rayadu out. But that was all that the Mumbai Indians would have to cheer about as the RCB bowlers fought back and reduced them to 70/4 in the 12th over.

Ambati Rayadu and Corey Andersen tried their best to build to a all out assault towards the end of the innings, but both of them were dismissed on the score of 101 of consecutive deliveries of Mitchell Starc. In fact Mumbai went from 101/4 to 101/7 in a span of 1 over; losing any hopes whatsoever of posing a respectable total on the scoreboard.

This has been the second match on the trot where the Mumbai Indians have failed to deliver with the bat. They seem to be missing the balance that was provided by Dwayne smith in the batting line up as they have been playing with 5 bowlers and 6 batsmen lineup.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Mitchell Starc were the stars with the ball for the RCB team as both of them picked up important wickets and were very miserly in terms of giving away runs.

After the first inning, the RCB seems to be the favorite in the game. Considering the fire power in their batting and the fact that even Yuvraj Singh is back in form now, this should be a cake walk victory for them.

Brief Score:

Mumbai Indians: 115/9 (A. Rayadu: 35, C Andersen: 18.  Y Chahal: 2/17, M Starc: 2/21).
