IPL 2014 Preview: Delhi and Rajasthan looking to start their Indian campaign with a win

The IPL season 7 have so far been very different for the two sides facing each other this Saturday evening. While RR is one of the most stable sides with equal strength in their Batting, Bowling and Fielding departments, the Daredevils have found it relatively tough to find the same balance. In what is their first of three consecutive matches at home, Delhi Daredevils will be looking to continue their winning momentum from the game against Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Daredevils

X Factor: The Delhi top order is heavily loaded with some good international batsmen. Murli Vijay, Quinton De Kock, Kevin Pietersen and Dinesh Karthik are all good and solid T20 players and the Daredevils will look up at them to get the result in their favor.

Watch out for: Kevin Pietersen, Quinton De Kock.

Pietersen have now played two matches for the daredevils this season and he has managed to get starts on both the occasions. If he just continues playing the way he has so far, it’s not too far that we will see the KP special that every cricket fans Craves for. Quinton De Kock on the other hand is one of the most talented batsmen in the world. He has also played a couple of good innings and managed to score freely against arguably the best bowling line up in the tournament against the Sunrisers.

Weak point: The bowling department hasn’t quite clicked in the tournament so far. Such has been the inconsistency of the bowlers that Duminy has had to do the job at times with the ball.

Rajasthan Royals

X Factor: The Indian players in Rajasthan Royals have provided an enormous amount of balance to the side. The likes of Sanju Samson, Pravin Tambe, Ajinkya Rahane, Rajat Bhatia etc have not only contributed but at times have even taken the team to victory on their own.

Watch Out for: James Faulkner, Steve Smith.

James Faulkner is the only bowler to take 2 five wicket hauls in a single IPL tournament. In the last game against the Knight Riders, he single handedly brought back the game in the hands of the royals. The plus point in having Faulkner in the team is that he can even hit those huge sixes at the end of the innings. The more you see of Steve Smith the more you want to see him play. The young Aussie is a very good in the middle order for the Royals.

Weak point: The only weak point you can possibly pick out from the royals is that they are not giving enough time to their best batsmen. Watson and Smith need to bat up the order and the other Indian batsman can hold the fort down the order. The royals need to give themselves a chance of posting a huge total in the games in India.
