IPL 2014 Preview: Saturday night showdown between KKR and KXIP

The Saturday evening game between the Kings XI Punjab and the Kolkata Knight Riders promises and will eventually come down to the battle between the two cap holders in the tournament. This is the first time in the tournament that ‘The big show’ Glenn Maxwell will face mystery spinner Sunil Narine. The result of the game will hugely depend upon who among the aforementioned players will get the better of the other. Kolkata Knight Riders who are coming on the back of a win against the Royal Challengers will be looking to create another upset by defeating the table toppers KXIP. No matter what the result of the game ends up being, the battle between bat and ball will be a good one to see for the viewers.

Players to watch out for: Glenn Maxwell, Sunil Narine

Glenn Maxwell is the leading run scorer in the tournament so are, and for what it is worth, the lucks seems to favor him as well. He has no respect whatsoever for any bowler and seems like going for the kill right from the first delivery. Narine on the other hand has been the best bowler for KKR for quite some time now. He has the ability of running throw any batting line up and the KXIP batsmen need to be wary of this spin wizard.

Weak point: Gautam Gambhir, Mitchell Johnson.

Gautam Gambhir, while the most expensive player for the knight riders has not been able to open the account in the tournament so far. Being the captain of the team it’s about time that the Southpaw comes good for the Shah Rukh Khan owned Franchise. Mitchell Johnson, while not as disappointing as Gambhir still hasn’t been able to find the destructive form that he can be in. The batsmen are bound to fail at least once in such a long tournament and it’s about time that the fiery paceman puts his hands up and delivers.

ODDS of victory: The Kings XI are sure shot the favourites going into the game. If they manage to get through Narine’s 4 overs without much damage, the victory is going to be easy for them given the fire power in the batting line up.
