Chasing a total of 153, the Rajasthan royals got off to a decent start before in form Batsman Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed, credits to a brilliant catch at covers from Murli Vijay. After the fall of Rahane’s wicket, two young Indian batsmen Sanju Samson and Karun Nair took matters in their hands. They first made sure that the innings is stabled and later launched on the assault to provide the momentum to the innings.
Karun Nair in particular was simply outstanding as he made sure that he stays on the crease till the end and also top scored for the Royals. Nair was given good support; first by samson and then by Rajat Bhatia who was promoted up the order by the team management. Bhatia Didn’t disappoint his team and played a quickfire knock of 17 runs when the team needed some quick runs to raise their run rate.
After the dismissal of Bhatia, Watson and Nair just had to play sensibly and that they did, winning the game in 18.3 overs. Karun Nair top scored with 73 runs.
Earlier, DD had managed to put up a total of 152 thanks mainly to some big hitting by Kedar jadhav and JP Duminy in the death overs after Shane Watson had won the toss and elected to field first.
Result: Rajasthan Royals won the match by 7 wickets with 9 deliveries to spare.
