IPL 2014, RR vs KXIP: Samson and Watson’s half century helps RR post a daunting total of 192

Rajasthan Royals, after being asked to bat first by KXIP captain George bailey went on to show scintillating batting performance and posted a huge total of 191 for The Punjab team to chase.

After losing both the openers, who provided a brisk start to the royals, Shane Watson and Sanju Samson batted like they were practicing their shots in the nets, hitting sixes and boundaries at will and maintaining a healthy Run rate of around 10 RPO.  Samson started of the assault with the bat as he showed the world exactly how good a decision it was on the part of the RR franchise to retain him in the Auctions.

Shane Watson also played a very destructive innings and proved his worth to the Rajasthan team. Both the batsmen were dismissed in quick succession after scoring their respective Fifties, but the innings they played had already treated the Spectators a great amount of entertainment.

After the dismissal of Watson and Samson, the KXIP bowlers were able to pull things back to some extent and eventually stopped the RR batsmen from posting a total in excess of 200.

The total on board means that the Punjab Batsmen will have to chase a stiff target for the second game in a row, and given the form of their top batsmen and the firepower in their batting, the chase promises to be as entertaining as the first innings.
