Indian Premier League (IPL) is nearing its tenth season, which is couple of months away. Before the season begins, teams will be involved in the auction process. This year the IPL auction was scheduled to take place on February 4, but it was then delayed to a later date of February 20.  Also Read: IPL 2017 full schedule

The franchises ahead of the tenth season have released a total of 63 players. Rising Pune Supergiants have released 11 players, the most, while Kings XI Punjab have let go just four players. All the released players will now go into the new auction pool. Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad have also released six players.

MS Dhoni-led Pune franchise have released overseas players like Kevin Pietersen, Thisara Perra, George Bailey and Albie Morkel. Prominent names that have been released by other franchises includes, Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Mitchell Johnson, Kyle Abbott, Colin Munro, More Morkel, Corey Anderson, Martin Guptill, Eoin Morgan, Trent Boult, Varun Aaron and Chris Jordan. Here is the list of players released by eight franchises ahead of the auction:

Rising Pune Supergiants: Kevin Pietersen, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Thisara Perra, Rudra Pratap Singh, Scott Boland, M. Ashwin, Peter Handscomb, Saurabh Tiwary, Albie Morkel, George Bailey.

Gujarat Lions: Dale Steyn, Paras Dogra, Eklavya Dwivedi, Sarbjeet Ladda, Pravin Tambe, Umang Sharma, Amit Mishra, Aksh Deep Nath.

Kings XI Punjab: Mitchell Johnson, Rishi Dhawan, Kyle Abbott, Farhaan Behardien.

Kokata Knight Riders: Morne Morkel, Brad Hogg, Jason Holder, Colin Munro, John Hastings, Jaydev Unadkat, Rajagopal Sathish, Manan Sharma, Shaun Tait.
