Delhi Dynamos started the game on the front and they were attacking for the first fifteen minutes while NorthEast United took time to settle and then started replying to Delhi with their game of offence. The first half has been rather entertaining despite no goals being scored. Both keepers have been tested and they stepped up to keep their sides from going down by any goals.

Delhi created chances with their front line once again showing their quality. But, slowly yet steadily, NorthEast grew into the game. Both teams have played some end-to-end football in the first 45 minutes, with Delhi keeping the majority of the possession i.e. 64%, while attack index of both the teams were 50% each at the end of the first half.

It seemed like NorthEast came out with the power booster in the second half as they were not giving space to Delhi to even breath in the later half of the game. Highlanders were desperate for the goal and they finally found it in the 62nd minute. It started with a corner for NorthEast which was cleared out and Didier Zokora has the ball here. He dinked it in to Seityasen Singh at the right-hand post and he did amazingly well to control the ball. Singh then skipped past the defender and somehow beat the charging keeper. He had a clear goal as he slides it in across the line. the

Delhi Dynamos kept their cool and look for the equaliser but it was again NorthEast who scored second goal of the game to double their lead in 73rd minute. Robert Cullen charged with the ball through the middle and had Koffi made a bursting run on his left. He saw the big man running through and quickly played him in. Koffi with his first touch finished it through the keeper’s legs off the outer part of his boot. Delhi Dynamos were now in trouble while NorthEast knew the importance of win in this match.

Delhi increased their attack frequency and it was in 93rd minute of the match when Marcelo found the back of the net but it proved out to be the consolation goal for Delhi as the final score remained 2-1 with NorthEast grabbing all three points from the game. The win means that NorthEast United FC still have hopes of making it into the top four. They will play Kerala Blasters FC in a virtual quarter-final to decide who claims the 4th spot. Delhi, on the other hand, will play their next against Mumbai for the top spot of the points table.
