Chinese ace Li Na has battled Czech Lucie Safarova in three gruelling sets in their third round clash at the Australian Open to book a fourth round berth with a 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 victory on Friday.

The Chinese fourth seed, a finalist last year, rallied from a set down to set a match point through a tiebreak to win the game within two-and-a-half hours on another hot Melbourne day.

Reports mentioned that Li set up a clash with Russian 22nd seed Ekaterina Makarova for a place in the quarter-finals.  ANI
