Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, finalists of IPL 2013 meet for the sixteenth time in the IPL tournament spread over seven years. In their last 15 meetings, Mumbai Indians boasts of leading head to head 9-6 with one match abandoned. Mumbai Indians is in search of its lone win in the IPL 7 after losing on both the occasions against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Two times winner of IPL trophy in 2010 and 2011, Chennai Super Kings have come back to winning ways after being uprooted by Kings XI Punjab’s pair of Glenn Maxwell and David Miller in CSK’s opening match of IPL 7.  They comprehensively defeated Delhi Daredevils in Abu Dhabi while they managed to completely baffle Rajasthan Royals batsmen to win by 7 runs after posting an average score of 140. Magnificent performance by CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja got them home.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have talented pool of players in their side. Chennai Super Kings have the likes of Brendon McCullum, Francois du Plessis, Dwayne Smith, Suresh Raina and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. On the other hand Mumbai Indians will like their army of players in form of Keiron Pollard, Rohit Sharma, Corey Anderson, Pragyan Ojha and Mike Hussey to fire.

In what is to be called as one of the most exciting battles to watch out for, we look forward to the mouth watering clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings win by 7 wickets and 6 balls to spare

OVER 19: Chennai 142/3

Chennai Super Kings need 9 runs from 12 balls to win. Corey Anderson comes inti the attack to try and get a wicket after an expensive over from Lasith Malinga. Dhoni guides the ball to get a 4 off of Corey Andersons’ pace. Scores are level with Chennai needing 1 run to win from 7 balls. Brendon McCullum pushes the ball away for the wining runs.

OVER 18: Chennai 133/3

Rohit Sharma gives the ball to Lasith Malinga to bowl the over. There is an opportunity for a run out but missed. MS Dhoni makes use of the free hit due to the no ball and hits it for a 6. Brendon McCullum smashes a delivery inside out toe hit the ball for a 4.

OVER 17: Chennai 120/3

MS Dhoni walks out to bat and replace Faf du Plessis. Zaheer Khan comes into the attack. An appeal for a LBW from Zaheer Khan followed by an overthrow gives Chennai Super Kings 2 runs.

OVER 16: Chennai 114/3

Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack to try and break this partnership between Faf du Plessis and Brendon McCullum. Faf du Plessis gets a massive top edge and itt goes high in the air but dropped by Kieron Pollard. Another attempt at a diving catch but Corey Anderson fails to collect it. Faf du Plessis gets stumped by CM Gautam off of Harbhajan Singh’s delivery.

OVER 15: Chennai 107/2

Lasith Malinga comes into the attack for his 3rd over and to try and break the partnership. CSK needs 37 runs to win from 34 balls.

OVER 14: Chennai 104/2

Zaheer Khan comes back into the attack. Brendon McCullum goes for the big shots right away but misses the ball. McCullum smashes another shot for a 6 and the 100 runs come up for Chennai Super Kings. Zaheer comes back at McCullum with a good in swinging ball. The umpire calls for the strategic time out.

OVER 13: Chennai 95/2

Kieron Pollard comes into the attack to get his breakthrough for the Mumbai Indians. Faf du Plessis flciks the ball off his pads for a single. Kieron Pollard trying to act smart by not not bowling the ball and he gets the treatment by a 4 smashed away by McCullum. A single and Brendon McCullum gets his 50 runs from 36 balls. Faf du Plessis drives the ball and they run a quick couple of runs.

OVER 12: Chennai 85/2

Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack. Chennai Super Kings need 64 runs from 53 balls to win the match. Brendon McCullum charges Harbhajan Singh and smashes the ball for a 6.

OVER 11: Chennai 78/2

Lasith Malinga comes back into the attack. A good slower delivery from Malinga right on the stumps to put the batsman in a defensive stance.

 OVER 10: Chennai 76/2

Harbhajan Singh comes back into the attack and starts off with a wide ball. Brendon McCullum waits for the ball to come to him and quickly smashes the ball away for a 6. A reverse sweep but the ball goes straight to Rohit Sharma.

OVER 9: Chennai 65/2

Pragyan Ojha comes into the attack to get another breakthrough after his wicket of Dwayne Smith. Excellent fielding from Corey Anderson to stop any scoring.

OVER 8: Chennai 61/2

Harbhajan Singh comes into the attack and Brendon McCullum tries a reverse sweep but the fielder stops the runs. Harbhajan Singh bowls wide of the stumps to tempt the Suresh Raina to charge him and in the process Raina gets stumped. Suresh Raina departs after scoring 1 run off of 4 balls. Faf du Plessis comes out to bat and replace Suresh Raina.

OVER 7: Chennai 60/1

Pragyan Ojha comes back into the attack and gets hammered for a 6. Dwayne Smith gets the top edge and the ball goes high in the air, there is confusion but caught in the end by Corey Anderson. Dwayne Smith departs after scoring 29 runs from 22 balls. The umpire signals the strategic time out. Suresh Raina comes out to bat and replace Dwayne Smith.

Corey Anderson comes into the attack and he is smacked away for a 4 by Brendon McCullum. McCullum hits a power shot after being beaten for a couple of deliveries to the boundary for a 4. Kieron Pollard tries to get to the ball and gets his hand to it but the ball was too high for him and McCullum is safe. Chennai reaches 50 runs with the last strike.

Lasith Malinga comes into the attack to try and get a breakthrough. Malinga starts off with a slow ball.

Zaheer Khan comes back into the attack and gets smashed for a 6. Brendon McCullum tries to go big and gets an inside edge but he is safe. An amazing cover drive from Brendon McCullum that races away for a 4.

OVER 3: Chennai 15/0

Pragyan Ojha comes back into the attack after a brilliant first over. Dwayne Smith smashes him out of the park for a 6. Dwayne Smith goes big again and gets another 6.

OVER 2: Chennai 2/0

Zaheer Khan comes into the attack after Pragyan Ojha’s maiden over to Brendon McCullum. Another good over from Mumbai Indians to not let Chennai Super Kings’ Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum to score runs.

Zaheer Khan comes out to bat and replace Harbhajan Singh as Ben Hilfenhaus bowls the last over. Chidhambaram Gautam gets a cheeky shot away to use the pace off the ball and gets it away for a 4. A top edge from Gautam and Suresh Raina dives for the catch. Suresh Raina is shaking his head but the umpires will check the replay to see if the catch was clean. A slower ball from Hilfenhaus and Zaheer Khan waits for it and then smacks the ball away for a 6.

Mohit Sharma comes in to bowl the penultimate over of the innings and strikes with his first ball as a slow ball gets the wicket of Ambati Rayudu who goes after scoring 1 run off of 2 balls. Suresh Raina has a safe pair of hands. Mohit Sharma will try and get another wicket after he has taken 2 wickets in the match. Mohit Sharma strikes again and gets his third wicket as he bowls Keiron Pollard out with a slower ball. Kieron Pollard departs after scoring 12 runs from 11 balls. Harbhajan Singh comes into the batting attack to replace Kieron Pollard. Another slower ball and he gets Harbhajan Singh caught out by Brendon McCullum.

Ben Hilfenhaus comes into the attack to swing the match in Chennai’s favour. A well bowled yorker but Rohit Sharma gets it away and takes a single to get his 50 runs from 40 balls. Rohit Sharma gets top edge and the ball flies through the air into Dwayne Smith’s hands. Rohit Sharma departs after scoring 50 runs off of 41 balls. The batsmen cross over when the ball was in the air and Kieron Pollard comes to the atrike and tries to pull it but falls short. Ambati Rayudu comes in to bat and replace Rohit Sharma.

Ishwar Pandey comes back into the attack and gets an outside edge but it doesn’t carry to MS Dhoni. A good ball right at the base  of the stumps to fore the batsman to play a defensive shot.

OVER 16: Mumbai 113/3

Mohit Sharma comes into the attack to try and get a breakthrough and he starts with a slower one. A direct hit and there might be a run out chance here. Third umpire has been consulted and it will be given out according to the replay. The third umpire gives Corey Anderson out after scoring 39 runs off of 31 balls. Strategic time out has been called by the umpire. Kieron Pollard comes out to bat and replace Corey Anderson. Very good over from Mohit Sharma with a lot of variation.

Ravindra Jadeja comes into the attack. A flat shot from Corey Anderson and it races away to the boundary for a 4. Mumbai Indians reach 100 runs in the match against Chennai Super Kings. A good shot from Rohit Sharma and it beats the fielder to reach the boundary for a 4.

R Ashwin comes back into the attack. Both the batsmen are anchoring the innings to keep the scoring on and get Mumbai to a good total.

Suresh Raina comes into the attack and gets smashed away but stopped by the fielder. Chennai Super Kings has been able to slow down the scoring rate. A good shot from Rohit Sharma goes away for a 4. Another powerful shot by Rohit Sharma and the ball goes all the way for a 6. Corey Anderson and Rohit Sharma have a partnership of 61 runs now.

R Ashwin comes back into the attack. A chance for a run out but Rohir Sharma makes it back behind the strike. A good line from Ashwin in the over.

OVER 11: Mumbai 69/2

Ben Hilfenhaus comes into the attack to look for a breakthrough but gets smashed for a 6 by Rohit Sharma. This was the 123rd 6 of IPL 2014. Anderson tries to club the ball away for a boundary but it gets stopped by the fielder. The ball high in the air but it still lands safely as it was hit between the fielders.

Suresh Raina comes into the attack. Raina has bowled a tiht line this tournament and he continues to do so. Mumbai Indians reach 50 runs in the 10th over.

OVER 9: Mumbai 47/2

Mohit Sharma comes back into the attack. An excellent yorker length ball a bit wide of the stumps beats Corey Anderson. Strategic Time Out has been called by the umpire.

OVER 8: Mumbai 44/2

Suresh Raina comes into the attack. Suresh Raina gets smashed away for a 4 by Corey Anderson.

OVER 7: Mumbai 37/2

Mohit Sharma comes into the attack for the 7th over. A good slow scoring over for CSK.

R Ashwin comes back into the attack. Corey Anderson gets the ball off of the pads and the ball runs away for a 4.

Mohit Sharma comes into the attack. A short ball as Aditya Tare tries to charge the bowler and the improvisation helps stop a cracking shot and Mumbai Indians get no runs for it. A good swinging ball from Sharma to beat Aditya Tare. A good line bowled by Mohit Sharma and Aditya Tare smashes it up in the air to guide the ball right to Suresh Raina. Aditya Tare departs after scoring 23 runs off of 19 balls. Rohit Sharma comes out to bat and replace Aditya Tare.

OVER 4: Mumbai 25/1 

R Ashwin comes into the attack to spin the competition off its feet. A good slash by Tare and it beats the tight field to fetch him a couple of runs.

OVER 3: Mumbai 20/1

Ishwar Pandey comes back into the attack with an excellent ball swinging away from Aditya Tare. Tare responds with a better shot and gets the ball racing to the boundary for a 4. Aniket tare pushes another delivery brilliantly to guide it to the the ropes for a 4. A defensive shot and a quick single, good thinking between Tare and Anderson to keep the scoring going on by rotating the strike.

OVER 2: Mumbai 11/1

Ben Hilfenhaus comes into the attack. Aditya Tare hits back to back 4s off of Ben Hilfenhaus. A good line from Hiflenhaus and it beats Tare to go to MS Dhoni. An excellent comeback from Ben Hilfenhaus as the ball beats Hussey completely and hits the top of the off stump to dismiss Michael Hussey. Correy Anderson comes out to bat and replace Michael Hussey.

OVER 1: Mumbai 2/0

Ishwar Pandey will start the bowling attack for Chennai Super Kings while Aditya Tare and Michael Hussey open the batting for Mumbai Indians. A chance for a run out but the dive saves Michael Hussey from an early departure. Good fielding from Chennai to stop an imminent 4. The atmosphere in the stadium is absolutely electric with the crowds screaming their guts out to support their team.
