Mumbai Indians take on Rajasthan Royals in the Match 56 which is the last league match in IPL 2014. The numbers favour Rajasthan Royals in this match as they have 14 points from 13 games with a net run rate of 0.247 while Mumbai Indians has 12 points from 13 games with a net run rate of -0.086. What these numbers essentially mean is that Mumbai Indians can still make it to the playoffs with a win against Rajasthan Royals but it has to be a huge win.

Rajasthan Royals need to be defeated by 42 runs or Mumbai Indians has to finish the game within 14.3 overs for Mumbai Indians to qualify to the playoffs according to cricketcountry. Kevon Cooper comes into the attack for Rajasthan Royals but gets slammed for a 4 right from the first ball. A misfield by James Faulkner lets Corey Anderson get 2 runs instead of a single. A good short ball from Kevon Cooper gets Rajasthan Royals a much needed dot ball. A chance of a run out and the umpire refers the third umpire. The replay shows that the batsman is safe. Mumbai needs 25 runs from 11 balls to qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai needs 51 runs from 21 balls to qualify. Shane Watson comes into the attack and a thick edge off of Ambati Rayudu’s bat runs away for a 4. Rayudu slams the next ball away for another 4.  Ambati Rayudu finds the gap again and another 4 off of skipper, Shane Watson. Shane Watson bowls a wide-ish delivery and Corey Anderson gets an outside edge which runs away for another 4 taking him to 74 runs off of 32 balls.

OVER 11: Mumbai 139/4

James Faulkner comes back into the attack ad gets slammed for a 4 right down the field.  Corey Anderson slams the ball away for a couple of runs. Mumbai needs 72 runs from 22 balls to qualify at this point in the match. James Faulkner has a word with Shane Watson to move the field but he bowls a slower ball that is called a wide. Corey Anderson slams another delivery for a 6 as he moves to 66 runs off of 30 balls. An outside edge and the ball runs away for a 4.

Mumbai needs 86 runs from 33 balls at this stage to qualify. Dhawal Kulkarni comes into the attack for Rajasthan Royals and Rohit Sharma gets an inside edge that runs away for 4. Rohit Sharma slams the ball but the fielder gets under it and Rohit Sharma is OUT. Dhawal Kulkarni has been expensive in this match but he gets rid of the Mumbai Indians skipper. Kevon Cooper comes into the attack after his blitzkrieg in the previous over. Corey Anderson is trying to muscle the ball away for 4s and 6s but Kevon Cooper is bowling smartly.

James Faulkner comes into the attack. Rohit Sharma comes in to replace Kieron Pollard after he departed in the previous over after scoring just 7 runs. Rohit Sharma smashes the ball for a huge 6 as it keeps sailing over the crowd.

Kieron Pollard comes into the attack for the final over. Brad Hodge strats the over with a powerful shot away for a couple of runs. Brilliant effort by Corey Anderson to pull the ball which was going for a certain 4 and saved 4 runs. The batsmen run a couple of runs so Anderson saved a couple of runs but Brad Hodge picks the slower ball by Pollard and smashes it away for a 6. Pollard has to bowl a better couple of deliveries and he tries a bouncer which goes for a wide. Another short ball and Pollard gets the wicket of James Faulkner. James Faulkner OUT for 23 runs.
