Live Score Update, IPL 2014, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Kings XI Punjab (KXIP): Kings XI Punjab win by 6 wickets

SRH-KXIP_2

The Kings XI Punjab will take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Rajiv Gandhi stadium at Hyderabad in their 10th match of this season of IPL 2014. The last time these two sides met, it resulted in the former tearing apart its opposition mostly due to the Glenn Maxwell rampage. Kings XI Punjab after a long period of time have been displaced off the top of rankings by Chennai Super Kings. They failed as a unit in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders and would take a cue from the match of their weak departments.

Sunrisers Hyderabad after the initial defeats and setbacks came back good to win matches and are currently placed fifth but with crucial eight points. Despite losing their last match against Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad has shown potential to beat good teams. They have a strong bowling unit led by Dale Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. As for KXIP side is concerned they have been a good side and despite losing the last match comprehensively, the good thing is the return of opening batsman Virender Sehwag at its best.

There’s a difference of six points between KXIP and SRH but on paper both the teams look well in balance. Nevertheless the main contest is going to be between Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers vs Kings XI Punjab batsmen.

Kings XI Punjab win by 6 wickets

OVER 18.4 : KXIP 211/4

All it took was one over to get everything in balance for George Bailey. On the other hand Dale Steyn, Hyderabad’s main bowler was literally torn apart for the second time in the tournament, the first time it was his countryman De Villeirs. George Bailey finishes in style as he hits Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a SIX.

OVER 18: KXIP 202/4

If there is another fall of wicket at the moment, there could be serious change in plans for KXIP game. Miller is the man for KXIP at the moment. This match has turned on its head time and again as the crowd has come alive with the SRH bowlers giving them a match to watch. Bailey has played deliveries to settle down and now all he needs to do is play out the singles. KXIP need 24 runs of 16 balls. Not difficult as the match is still in hand as George Bailey hits Dale Steyn for a SIX. Much required boundary for the Punjab side. And yes it is a ‘Georgeous Shot’. Bailey hits another FOUR. The equations back in favour of KXIP with 14 runs of 14 deliveries. He hits another FOUR. He is thwarting SRH best bowler. Great batting by captain in the pressure moment. He ends the over with a SIX.

OVER 17: KXIP 180/4

The equations might look simple with 31 runs off 24 balls but SRH bowlers cannot be taken easily. With Irfan Pathan charging in with the ball, Miller will have to do something more to get the required runs. He is dealing with singles and KXIP has suddenly managed to take all the pressure in the world. Bailey is doing no good at the moment, wasting deliveries and is appealed for after a superb catch by David Warner. Bailey appeals for the catch to be checked and Bailey is not out. Great effort by David Warner. Suddenly from nowhere SRH is back in the game.

OVER 16: KXIP 175/4

Is there a twist in the tale as KXIP need 36 runs off 29 deliveries. Not a bad situation for KXIP but if another wicket falls it can add pressure on them. George Bailey tries to hit Mishra and almost gets himself caught by Karn Sharma. But survives and gets two runs. Miller is also taking single. and six runs off this over.

OVER 15: KXIP 169/4

There is no extra risk to be taken from KXIP side and all they need to do is bat sensibly. SRH bowler look relieved with the dismissal of Maxwell as Karn Sharma is not allowing the KXIP batsman to get runs. Suddenly there is stoppage on the flowing runs.

OVER 14: KXIP 166/4

Such matches help Kings XI Punjab with soaring run rates. The first ball by Amit Mishra and Maxwell tries to get a six is caught beautifully by Dale Steyn. The duo get him out this time around as Maxwell is OUT after making 43 runs. KXIP captain George Bailey comes in for Maxwell. But there is no affect on scoring runs as Miller hits a FOUR. Can KXIP manage to do what KKR did against Rajasthan. Their fans would hope not.

OVER 13: KXIP 159/3

Shikhar Dhawan calls in his strike bowler to get a breakthrough in form of Dale Steyn. KXIP need just 50 runs off 47 balls. Dale Steyn appeals for a caught and bowled and it goes again in favour of Glenn Maxwell. Looks like even the luck seems to favour the Australian. He hits one down the ground and picked up by David Warner. Looks like we have some sorta bromance on field with Warner and Maxwell – Australian players.  We saw South-African bromance the other day when De Villiers won match against Dale Steyn. Miller is on strike and there seems to be a little slowdown of the strike rate. But never mind as Killer Miller can accelerate any time. Just three runs off the over. Rare sight as STRATEGIC TIME OUT called.

OVER 12: KXIP 156/3

At the end of eleven overs KXIP batsmen have hit 11 fours and 7 sixes. They are playing some unbelievable cricket at the moment as Maxwell goes for another maximum SIX. The SRH supporters look distressed as he hits another SIX. Maxwell has already reached on 41 in just 17 deliveries as SRH bowlers look for cover. Singles seem rarer as Maxwell runs one on the last delivery.

OVER 11: KXIP 141/3

Amit Mishra almost got his man out in Glenn Maxwell but the batsman appeals the third umpire to check for the no-ball. And he is right as he survives a scare and he gets a FREE HIT.  Too much of drama on the field as Maxwell hits a lofty one that is dropped by SRH fielder. Maxwell attempts a switch hit against Amit Mishra which could have been caught but goes flying past the fielder for a FOUR. Maxwell takes a single to end the over.

OVER 10: KXIP 131/3

The first  delivery of Irfan Pathan over gets Manan Vohra. You feel sorry for the KXIP batsman as he is real  unlucky to be RUN OUT by the bowler who hits the stumps on his follow up. But no worries as this wicket brings the watched out pair of David Miller and Glenn Maxwell on the pitch. or simply Max-Miller.

OVER 9: KXIP 125/2

What a turnaround for Sunrisers Hyderabad who looked comfortable after putting this mammoth total. But now KXIP batsman have made a mockery of the total. They are only dealing in fours an sixes at the moment as Maxwell hits SIX. There is no difference with an early wicket while chasing the huge score.

OVER 8: KXIP 113/2

The first delivery by Karn Sharma gets the danger man Wriddhiman Saha is OUT. Great batting display by Saha as he goes out for 54 off 26 deliveries. Glenn Maxwell walks and he goes his usual way hitting Karn Sharma for a SIX. And then there is one more SIX. it is like you are watching highlights of the match. And oh my god it is raining sixes as the last one is out in the spectator’s stand for yet another SIX.

OVER 7: KXIP 95/1

KXIP set a new record this IPL 7 as they score 86 runs in just 36 runs. Post time out Amit Mishra takes the over in order to get some control over the batsmen. He has had a fairly good IPL season so far. He does good with giving just singles and will there be no boundary this over. Not a chance as lasst delivery is hit for a FOUR.

OVER 6: KXIP 86/1

Another change in bowling attack with Henriques coming in for the sixth over. But nothing changes for KXIP as Vohra hits him for consecutive FOURs. Takes a breather with a one run. With this Saha comes on strike and he hits Henriques for a huge SIX. The best bowling attack is teared apart by the Kings XI Punjab. STRATEGIC TIME OUT called.

OVER 5: KXIP 66/1

With the main bowlers failing for Hyderabad and teared apart Shikhar Dhawan brings in the first bowling change with Karn Sharma taking the fifth over. He has good economy rate of just 6.37 runs per over and he does good work with first two balls but the next one has the same fate. Another boundary. The last delivery goes for a FOUR as well.

OVER 4: KXIP 55/1

The bowlers seem to be begging for mercy for a new found talent Saha as he hits Dale Steyn for a SIX. What a cheeky shot played by Vohra for a FOUR. Dale Steyn not very used to this treatment as another FOUR finds the rope. And with this KXIP scores their half century.

OVER 3: KXIP 39/1

Bhuvneshwar Kumar successful in his very first over got the important wicket of in-form batsman Virender Sehwag. Starts off with two runs. Pretty expensive over for Kumar as he is hit for three boundaries.  Saha and Bohra knows the importance of quick runs if they have to chase down the big target of 206.

OVER 2: KXIP 24/1

Hyderabad’s strike bowler Dale Steyn takes the second over. Spectators wished to wwatch these two battle out but Sehwag’s dismissal ruined the action. First delivery a dot ball as the second one goes for three followed by two runs. Saha has made a half-century and should be confident as he hits Steyn for a boundary. Dale Steyn appeals vigorously on the fifth delivery but turned down by the umpire. Vohra hits the last delivery for a SIX.

OVER 1: KXIP 8/1

KXIP opener Virender Sehwag opens the innings with brilliant but risky FOUR. Are we not a little used to that. But a boundary is boundary. And then he is OUT. Bhuvneshwar Kumar brilliantly gets Sehwag caught and bowled in the next delivery itself. KXIP in deep problem as Wriddhiman Saha joins Mandeep Vohra. Last delivery goes for a FOUR. Some relief for Punjab team.

End of the first innings, Kings XI Punjab will chase 206 for victory in 20 overs.
