Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap advanced to the third round of the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton tournament on Wednesday. Kashyap was struggling to make a comeback after a long injury layoff. So his victory against Chun-Wei Chen of Chinese Taipei will boost his confidence and bring him on winning stream. He defeated Wei Chen 21-19, 21-8 in just 33 minutes.

However, in another match India’s Sameer Verma, who was in the limelight for his summit clash qualification in the Hong Kong Open Super Series, was defeated by Muhammad Bayu Pangsithu of Indonesia 18-21, 13-21 in the second round in just 35 minutes.

In the men’s doubles category, Manu Attri and Summeth Reddy edged past Chan Alan Yun Lung and Li Keun Hon of Hong Kong to advance. The Indian pair defeated Hong Kong duo 21-11, 17-21, 21-9 in 40 minutes.

India’s hope in men’s single, Kidambi Srikanth skipped the tournament following the Hong Kong Open Super Series. Srikanth will play the Dubai Open Super Series. In his absence Wei Feng Chong of Malaysia’s opposition gave a walkover.

B Sai Praneeth disposed of China’s Sun Feixiang 21-12 21-15 to set up a match against fifth seed Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong. However, on Tuesday H S Prannoy retired midway in the opening round match after suffering a back injury.
