Maheshwari Chauhan has won an individual bronze medal at the ongoing 7th Asian Championship Shotgun in Astana, Kazakhstan. With this, she becomes the first Indian to win a medal in women’s skeet at the top international level.

To put the icing on the cake, Maheshwari combined with Rashmi Rathore, and Saniya Sheikh won the silver medal in the Team event. The trio shot a total of 190, finishing behind gold medalists China, who shot 195. Hosts Kazakhstan won the bronze shooting 185 in total, ANI reported. Also Read- Kevin Durant: India is 20 Years Behind in Knowledge & Experience; NBA Star’s Shocking Views After His Taj Mahal Visit

However, it was Maheshwari who walked away with all the limelight as far as India’s participation is concerned. In top six the Indian faced stiff competition from the likes of Olympic finalists and World Cup gold medalists Meng Wei of China and Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand among others.

Eventually, Maheshwari finished at third place with a score of 40 while China’s Meng won gold shooting 55 and Sutiya claimed silver finishing a point behind Meng. Maheshwari’s compatriot Rashmi also put up a spirited display to finish fourth ending with a score of 32.

India started day five with four medals in the kitty, thanks to Ankur Mittals’s double gold effort in the men’s double trap and Kynan Chenai’s double bronze effort in the trap shooting events. India’s tally now stands at two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
