Indian cricket team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami was attacked by a group of youths in South Kolkata’s Katjunagar. This happened after Shami entered an argument with some youths.

As per ABP, the incident took place on Saturday night when Shami and his wife were returning home. It is alleged that Shami’s driver was driving fast and almost collided with a youth on the motorcycle. This reportedly led to an argument between the youth and Shami’s driver. All this happened meters away from the Indian cricketer’s residence.

However, it is reported that after few hours, late night, some youths gathered outside Shami’s house and started abusing the cricketer. The youths even manhandled the gatekeeper while trying to enter the premises.

Shami’s wife lodged an FIR in this matter in the Jadavpur Police station. “Yes we have received a complaint from Mr. Mohammed Shami’s family. Immediate action was taken against the accused and all of them were arrested on Sunday morning,” Police was quoted as saying by

“He has been living here for a long time now. We never had any problems with him or his family. In fact, he does not behave like a celebrity at all. We often find him in front of the local chat centre. His daughter plays around in the local park. So it is hard to believe something like this would happen to them,” the report quoted a source close to Shami’s family.
