Mohali, April 8: Afghanistan prodigy Mujeeb Ur Rahman became the youngest player to scalp a wicket in the India T20 League for his franchise Punjab in the ongoing match against Delhi. The 17 year 11 days old Mujeeb first scalped the wicket of Delhi opener Colin Munro to engrave the record to his name.

The record was earlier held by Bangalore all-rounder who scalped a wicket at the age of 17 years 177 days in the year 2015. Pacer Pradeep Sangwan, all-rounder Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar and Ishan Kishan are the other cricketers, who follow the list.

Mujeeb, also scalped his second wicket in the ongoing match in form of the Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s mystery spinner enhanced his growing reputation at the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.

The teenage spin wizard’s haul of 4/43 against West Indies in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier final – as Afghanistan put the cherry on top of their qualification for the main event next year with a seven-wicket victory in Harare – was the latest in a string of superb performances.

He claimed 17 wickets in total in the tournament – the joint-highest tally alongside Scotland’s Safyaan Sharif – with a miserly economy rate of just 3.58, according to the International Cricket Council.
