Mumbai Indians will face the Delhi Daredevils in another do or die game, this time at their home ground in the Wankhede. Mumbai now has 10 points after 12 games and that is a huge improvement considering the fact that they lost the first 5 games on the trot. The improvement for them has been good on such a level that they officially have a chance to qualify for the Playoffs, a fact that looked highly improbable after the UAE leg. Delhi Daredevils on the other hand have gone deeper in to the troubles that they themselves have created for themselves since the start of the tournament. While the Mumbai Indians luck has changed after the tournament moving to India, the Daredevils have not won a single game here.
X Factor: The openers have finally found their form and have given the Mumbai Indians a great balance in the bowling department. The team will be on a high after defeating the table toppers in the form of KXIP. They have defeated the Kings XI 2 times this tournament, something no other team has managed to pull off. The Batting finally looks settled and since they are playing on their home turf, the batting should click in a good way here.
Watch out for: Lendll Simmons, Rohit Sharma.
Lendll Simmons is the only batsman to score a century this season and he did so in the last game. He is in fantastic form as of late and he will be keen to maintain that good run of form. He has given the batting a new dimension and that has changed the whole look of the team in a good way. Rohit Sharma is one of the biggest finishers in the game and he showed us why in the game against the Rajasthan Royals in the Motera. Being the captain of the team he will be looking to lead the team from the front.
Weak Point: The bowling looks very brittle at times. The spinner have done a good job, but the pace attack doesn’t pose any threat whatsoever to any team. That will be a major issue to sort for the Mumbai Indians.
X Factor: The lesser you talk about this team the more the better it is. They don’t even look like trying to win a game. When their batting does well, the bowlers disappoint and Vice versa. The only positive u can possible point out of their team is the return in form of their captain Kevin Pietersen. Pietersen is the sort of player that can change the fortune of a team single handedly and this is one game where that desperately needs to happen.
Watch out for: Kevin Pietersen, Dinesh Karthik.
Both the batsman looked in good touch in the last game against the Kings XI. Both of them can make an impact with the bat and that is something that Delhi desperately needs this season. They need to give the team the same kind of start that they did against the Kings XI, only this time they need to further capitalize on it.
Weak Point: The bowling has been the weak point for them this season. The spinners seemed to have found some sort of impetus in the last game against the Kings XI, but they still possess the highest economy for any team as far spinners are concerned.
