Delhi, August 24: The lady has arrived in India. After a hero’s welcome to Rio Olympics 2016 silver medalist shuttler PV Sindhu in Hyderabad yesterday, it was the turn of wrestler Sakshi Malik who arrived in India minutes ago. Arriving in Delhi to a grand welcome, Sakshi Malik and her parents were overwhelmed with the reception from fans and officials at an early hour on Wednesday. ANI tweeted around 3 am IST on August 24, “#SakshiMalik arrives in Delhi after winning a bronze medal in women’s freestyle wrestling at #Rio2016”. Speaking to reporters for the first time after arriving in India, Sakshi Malik thanked her countrymen, saying, “Poore Hindustan ne mera saath diya hai, main sab ko thank you kehna chahti hoon.” A smiling Sakshi Malik further revealed to the media in Hindi, “It was my biggest dream to win a medal for India at #Olympics, was preparing for this for last 12 years.” Sakshi Malik’s father Satbir Malik said, “I can’t believe the grand reception my daughter got at airport, it’s a proud moment…” Proud moment, indeed, as it was Sakshi Malik who saved India from embarrassment, as it was medal-less until the Haryana girl won a bronze in wrestling.
