New Delhi: It was Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan’s birthday on Tuesday (December 05). And the left-hander turned 32. Dhawan received many wishes on Twitter from former and current cricketers.
One wish that stood out was none other than Virender Sehwag’s. The former Indian opener, in his trademark style, wished Dhawan on his birthday but with a twist. Sehwag used a picture of Dhawan lookalike to wish him.
“Happy Birthday Shika The One , as angrez commentators call . May you be “The One” who rescues Team India whenever needed and lay foundation for many victories @SDhawan25,” Sehwag wrote along with the picture.
Dhawan then took to Twitter and appreciated the picture Sehwag had used. “HHahah thanks bhaiya for ur wishes, picture badi chun ke lagaayi hai aapne,” Dhawan wrote.
Dhawan made his birthday special by scoring a half-century on day four of the India vs. Sri Lanka third Test. The left-hander scored 67 off 91 balls and also helped India score some quick runs towards the end of his innings. The outing on birthday turned out to be an extra special for Dhawan as he also completed his 2000 runs in Test cricket.
Dhawan has had a good year as he made a comeback to the Test team. His good form saw him earn a place in the Test team for South Africa early next year. He is tipped to be India’s first choice opener along with Murali Vijay. KL Rahul is the third opener in the squad.
