Hyderabad, April 9:  The left-right handed batting combination of Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson piloted Hyderabad to a 9-wicket victory over Rajasthan at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Monday.

Asked to bat, Sanju Samson (49) missed out on a half-century to take Rajasthan to a mere 125/9.  In return top order batsmen Dhawan (77 not out) and skipper Williamson (36 not out) forged an unbeaten 121 runs partnership to help  Hyderabad sail over the line with 4 overs spare.

For, Rajasthan Jaydev Unadkat – who became the most expensive Indian player bought in the Indian T20 League auction scalped a wicket.

However, initiating the chase, the home side lost wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhimann Saha (5) in the second over.

Unperturbed by the dismissal, Dhawan led the Hyderabad chase from the front smashing 12 boundaries and 1 six in his 57 balls innings.

Meanwhile, Williamson played a perfect second fiddle to the Indian batsman, rotating strike and maintaining a healthy run rate to help the side chase down the target with ease.

Earlier, Rajasthan lost their openers Ajinkya Rahane (13) and D Arcy Short (4) in quick succession. However, coming in to rescue Sanju Samson top scored for his side, but missed out on a half-century by a run as he was cleaned up by Shakib Al Hasan.

Later, the incoming batsmen failed to do much with the bat as Shakib, Siddharth Kaul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan keep scalping wickets at regular interval of time to restrict the visitors to a low total at the end of the innings.
