Gold Coast, Apr 11: Shooter Shreyasi Singh won gold in women’s double trap finals at Commonwealth Games 2018. With Shreyasi’s gold, India now have 23 medals. Varsha Varman finished on the fourth position.
Shreyasi Singh defeated Emma Cox of Australia in a shoot-off for gold in the women’s double trap event. Both shooters had finished the final round on 96 points each. She was a silver winner in the double trap team event at Glasgow four years ago.
Cox found the target only once during the shoot-off but the Indian held her nerves to score twice and claim the gold. Varsha Varman, the second Indian in the fray, missed out on the bronze by a narrow margin. She scored 86 to finish fourth, just a single point behind bronze medallist Linda Pearson of Scotland.
