Sri Lanka 155/4 in 18.5 Overs, win by 6 wickets! It was rather easy for the Lankans towards the end. Dilshan comes back to form with a bang and finished at an unbeaten 83. It was a cracking effort from the former skipper, who paced his innings to perfection. The finish was helped by Angelo Mathews, who wasted no time in getting off the blocks. Afghanistan’s fielding was their worst enemy today and it could have been a different result on another day and better work on the ground for the War-Torn nation, who went down fighting.

Sri Lanka 113/4 in 15.1 Overs Mohammad Nabi effects a superb run-out as Dilshan hits the ball straight back. The ball hit his hands and hit the stumps. Dilshan has brought up his fifty and is cutting lose here. He had just smashed a huge six off Hamid Hassan. Chamara Kapugedera departs C Kapugedera Run Out 10 (9)

Sri Lanka 85/3 in 12.1 Overs It was a rather silly way to lose a wicket and Thisara Perera has to go. The ball hits Dilshan’s pads and the batsmen took off for a risky single. The ball was barely two feet away from the stumps and keeper Shahzad took the ball and hit the stumps. Replays showed that Perera’s bat was on the line. Excellent work by Shahzad T Perera Run Out  12 (8)

Sri Lanka 71/2 in 10 Overs Sri Lanka lose another one and Thirimanne drags the ball onto the stumps. Shehzad gives him quite a send off. Dilshan’s scoring rate has gone down but Thisara Perera, who has been promoted up the order slams Karim for a huge six straight down the ground. Rashid is getting excellent turn here. L Thirimanne b Rashid 6 (13)

Sri Lanka 41/1 in 5.2 Overs Mohammad Nabi strikes and it was a loose shot on offer, stepping down the track and chipping the ball to short mid-wicket. It was a simple catch for Shafiqullah D Chandimal c Shafiqullah b Nabi 18 (17)

Sri Lanka 35/0 in 4 Overs Tillakaratne Dilshann is back in form and how! The veteran Sri Lankan opener has been unafraid to go for the big shots or improvise. Dinesh Chandimal is also looking good in the middle and the score is ticking along nicely. There are no demons on the pitch and the bowlers are not aided by that.

Sri Lanka need 154 to win

Afghanistan 153/7 in 20 Overs Afghanistan lose a couple of more wickets as the batsmen try to clear the fence and Shafiqullah goes to Perera. After playing a sterling role, Stanikzai also disappears in the same over. The last over has Najibullah playing some big shots to take the score past 150. Najib cracked a six and a four of Kulasekera. The batsmen finished with a couple off the last ball.

Afghanistan 118/5 in 17 Overs Afghanistan have lost  a big wicket as Shinwari holes out in the deep after playing a breezy cameo. Things were getting out of Sri Lanka’s control there. The defending champions nearly got another wicket but Mathews spooned a simple catch. S Shinwari c Perera b Kulasekera 31 (14)

Afghanistan 105/4 in 16 Overs Asghar Stanikzai is on the offensive and went of Siriwardana, smashing him for a couple of huge sixes. He got another one in off Herath. Samiuallah Shinwari on the attack too and the Lankan spinners are going for plenty. The pinch-hitter is smashing the ball all over the place and 55 runs have come in the last five overs.

Afghanistan 51/4 in 11 Overs Sri Lanka have taken a couple of more wickets and are looking good for more here. Herath got the important wicket of Zadran. Karim Sadiq got out to a laboured duck. The experienced pair of Stanikzai and Mohammad Nabi had to rebuild the innings but Herath once again got a wicket, snapping the team’s fourth wicket. Noor Ali Zadran b Herath 20 (23), Karim Sadiq c Chandimal b Perera 0 (7), M Nabi lbw b Herath 3 (5)

Afghanistan 30/1 in 5 Overs Noor Ali Zadran is on the attack cracked a couple of confident shots into the fence. Mathews was given three overs in his first spell and in comes Dushmanta Chammera into the attack, injecting some serious pace into the ranks.

Afghanistan 12/1 in 2.5 Overs Mohammad Shahzad perishes and it was just after he had played a gorgeous straight drive off Mathews. Here, he tries to heave the ball out of the park and the ball safely pouched by Chameera at mid-on. The pitch is playing slow and Sri Lanka are applying good early pressure here.
